Maanaadu, a political thriller was announced with Simbu aka STR as the lead, Venkat Prabhu as the director and Suresh Kamatchi as the producer about a year back. Since then actress Kalyani Priyadarshan has been brought on-board and the producer has quashed rumours of the film getting shelved more than just once.

Suresh Kamatchi has hit back at the rumours of his film ending up in the back-burner once again and this happened when a report of Venkat Prabhu putting Maanaadu on hold and moving on to another project surfaced. The producer took to his social media page to write back at the source of this information, "Everything that seems to your imagination is news. Let your service continue. All you need is followers.."
