GV Prakash Kumar opened up about his bond with Suriya, his creative philosophy and the people who have shaped his musical journey at the Vishwanath & Sons audio launch in Coimbatore on Sunday.

Describing the film as "a warm, feel-good family entertainer" and "a feast for Suriya sir's fans," GV Prakash spoke with visible emotion about reuniting with Suriya after Soorarai Pottru — a collaboration that earned both of them their first National Awards. He revealed that Suriya had extended him personal support during that phase, something he said he would "never forget." On Suriya's performance in Vishwanath & Sons, he said, "He's brought so much emotion and charisma to the character."

Reflecting on two decades in the industry, GV Prakash said he approaches every project as if it were his debut. "I always feel like I'm working on my very first film. That's the best mindset. Every film is a test, and every film is my debut." He added that he prefers to move on after completing a project rather than dwell on past work, saying that is how he continues to rediscover himself.

Asked about the lyricist he misses most, GV Prakash remembered the late Na Muthukumar, who penned lyrics for his first 50 films. "Wherever you are, I love your voice and your lyrics. You will always be remembered," he said. On singers, he singled out Shankar Mahadevan — specifically his improvisation on Urugudhe — as one of the very best. And when asked to name his musical icon, GV Prakash named AR Rahman without hesitation, recalling his days as the maestro's assistant. "Whenever I win an award, he's the first person to congratulate me. When a guru and mentor like him encourages me, that's a bigger award than anything else," he said.
