Jana Nayagan producer K Venkat Narayana of KVN Productions has reflected on the "challenging journey" of bringing the film to theatres, expressing both relief and happiness at its box office performance. Speaking to Galatta Plus, he described the certification ordeal and piracy setback as hardships that were difficult to make sense of even today, but said the team had put it behind them and focused on delivering the film to audiences worldwide.

"For what it has gone through, especially with the censor-related delays and piracy, the film has been doing well. If it had released during the Pongal holidays or after the elections, during summer vacations, the results would have been very different," he said, crediting Vijay's stardom and the emotional connect audiences share with the film as the driving forces behind its theatrical success.

His sentiments echoed those of director H Vinoth, who had earlier expressed regret that the film's 'A' certificate from the CBFC had limited its potential, saying it would have been "an unstoppable victory" with a U/A rating.

Jana Nayagan, originally scheduled for a Pongal release in January, finally released on July 23 after a six-month CBFC battle and a massive piracy leak in April. The film has crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide in four days and is tracking towards Rs 300 crore.
