MovieCrow Box Office Report - June 19 to 22

Newcomer Saravana Rajan's Vadacurry had hit the screens on June 19, and the movie had the advantage of 4-day opening. The movie opened to mixed reviews, while Sunny Leone has been the biggest attraction of the film. Two lesser known films -- Netru Indru and Vetri Selvan released across just a handful of screens on June 20. Both the movies received scathing reviews, making them duds at the box office. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend (June 19 to 22).

1. Vadacurry

Thanks to the innovative promotional strategies and Sunny Leone, the movie got a good opening. Also, the 4-day opening gave it an extra edge over other films. RJ Balaji's meaty role has helped the movie's cause too.

2. Mundasupatti

Newcomer's retro comedy Mundasupatti has been attracting the family audience, and the word of mouth of being a clean entertainer is helping for the same.

3. Manjapai

Manjapai, starring Vimal, Rajkiran and Lakshmi Menon is still holding on to plenty of screens, thanks to Lingusamy's Tirupathi Brothers banner. However, the occupancy level has taken a huge dip.

Other Movies

Netru Indru and Vetri Selvan have got the thumbs down from the critics and audience alike. The makers' low key promotions have let down the movie, along with the content. Kochadaiyaan and Yaamirukka Bayamey are hanging on to few screens in the multiplexes. Un Samayal Arayil and Naan Than Bala have been almost removed from all the screens, due to no patronage.

Upcoming week's releases

AL Vijay's dream project Saivam, starring baby Sara and Nasser in the lead, will be hitting the screens on June 27. Also, Enna Satham Indha Neram, starring quadruplets will be releasing on the same day.
