MovieCrow Box Office Report - June 6 to 8

Last weekend saw the release of two movies, namely, Manjapai and Un Samayal Arayil, and both the movies received mixed reviews from the audience and critics alike. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend (June 6-June 8).

1. Manjapai

Vemal - Lakshmi Menon starrer Manjapai got a good opening, thanks to the backing of Thirupathi Brothers banner. The critics have unanimously lauded Rajkiran's performances, but blamed the unengaging screenplay. Interestingly, the makers have claimed that Manjapai's opening weekend collection is equal to 70% of Kochadaiiyaan's opening collection in Tamil Nadu.

2. Kochadaiiyaan

Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan has been going steady at the popular multiplexes in the city as the family audience have been supporting the new attempt. However, the single screens and theatres at the suburbs have replaced the movie with new releases.

3. Un Samayal Arayil

Prakash Raj's Un Samayal Arayil has been unanimously termed as a faithful remake of Salt N' Pepper. Prakash Raj and Sneha have been getting appreciated for their matured performances. However, the theme of the movie hasn't been able to attract a lot of crowd, barring the elite multiplex audience.

Other Movies

Newcomer Deekay's Yaamirukka Bayamey is still running across sizeable number of screens, while last week's release Poovarasam Pee Pee, has been almost taken off from all the screens, in spite of getting positive reviews.

Upcoming week's releases

Mundasupatti, starring Vishnu Vishal and Nandita, will be hitting the screens on June 13, along with Vivek's comeback film Naan Thaan Bala. Few other films are expected to join the race at the last moment.
