MovieCrow Box Office Report  - April 25 to 27

Last weekend saw the release of 4 Tamil films, namely, Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Ennamo Nadakuthu, Yennamo Yedho and Pongadi Neengalum Unga Kadhalum. Out of the 4 films, the first two films have managed to get positive reviews, while the rest have got thumbs down from the audience and critics alike. Check out the box-office rankings of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend (April 25-27).

1. Tenaliraman

In spite of four new releases, Vadivelu’s Tenaliraman continued to rule the box office for the second consecutive week. Almost all the screens had retained the film, as Vadivelu managed to attract the audience to the theatres.

2. Vaayai Moodi Pesavum

Balaji Mohan’s Vaayai Moodi Pesavum has received positive reviews for the innovative theme handled in the film. Also, Dulquer has been getting rave appreciations for his terrific performance. More screens were added for the film, after the initial positive buzz.

3. Yennamo Yedho

The movie got a good opening, thanks to Gautham Karthik’s presence and the fact that movie is a remake of Telugu hit film Ala Modalaindi. However, due to negative reviews, the occupancy level has started declining rapidly.

4. Maan Karate and 5. Naan Sigappu Manithan

Both the movies are holding on to sizeable number of screens, thanks to the star power of Sivakarthikeyan and Vishal respectively. While Maan Karate has been declared as a hit, NSM has emerged as an average grosser.

6. Ennamo Nadakuthu

Vijay Vasanth’s lesser known film Ennamo Nadakuthu has emerged as the dark horse at the box office. The movie has been getting good word of mouth publicity for its racy screenplay, and hence, the collections are on the rise.

Other Movies

Pongadi Neengalum Unga Kadhalum did not create any buzz even after its release and Damaal Dumeel could not sustain at the box office in spite of encouraging reviews.

Upcoming week’s releases

Nayanthara’s Nee Enga En Anbe, remake of critically acclaimed Bollywood film Kahaani, and The Amazing Spider Man 2 are releasing this weekend. But, the big wait is for Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan, which will release on May 9.
