Osthe - Visitor Reviews

Visitor Review  by Arun

Osthe is really osthe(superb) movie!Lived upto my expectations(about 70%), Rating -3.5/5(Superb).

What works:

  1. Villain Sonu Sood.
  2. Songs and BackGroundMusic.
  3. Performances of "Jithan" Ramesh and Revathy, Comedy by Santhanam.
  4. Climax and .Second HALF.

What does not work:

  1. Illogical "spiderman" like stunt sequences in the First HALF.
  2. Simbu's inconsistent acting performance
  3. Characterisation of the heroine. Not a meaty role for a talented actress like Richa.
  4. Overdose of mass at some levels.

Really, you guys should revise the 43% rating that you have given for this film.I don't know by which standards, you have given this low percentage for this mass entertainer.

Visitor Review by Kannan Vijayakumar, Singapore

I recently viewed OSTHE first day first show in Singapore. Here is my FULL review of the movie Osthe - 4/5

Osthe which is one of the most anticipated films of 2011, has finally released and simply excels, exceeding its expectation in all aspects. To start off, Osthe heavily banks on its entertainment value and director Dharani makes no compromise in delivering a full-fledged commercial product with a racy screenplay. The main aim of the film is to entertain and Dharani has hit the bulls high.

Acting - It is Simbu’s show all the way and certainly the actor has delivered what is required and expected from him. His ‘Thirunaveli’ slang suits him well and he walks away with claps performing with much elegance. His hard work is evident in each scene and of course the six-pac avatar is sure to thrill his fans to the core. And standing next to him is the scene stealer, Santhanam who utters witty one liner and even tries his luck in dance in Neduvali song. There is no doubt that this film is one of his best performances this year. Other casts does their role well and Richa Gangopadhyay even though does not have much part to play gives a neat performance with expressive eyes. Sonu Sood does a strong role, in par with Simbu’s but of course not his best in terms of performances. He could have been used better.

Technical Value -  the film offers what is needed for a heavy commercial film and Gopinath’s (cinematographer) rapport with Dharani stands out very clearly in each frme. Thaman’s music is already a chartbuster and more than that his epic BGM really elevates each scene to another level announcing his entry into the leagues of Big Music Directors in Kollywood. However the digitally crafted stunts sometimes are quite visible evidently which looks amateurish at times.

In Conclusion, OSTHI is an honest remake of Hindi blockbuster ‘Dabbang’ and no doubt it will set the box office on fire.
