Suriya's upcoming action entertainer Karuppu has cleared censorship formalities with a U/A certificate, keeping its May 14 theatrical release firmly on track.

While the makers have not officially revealed the plot, promotional materials suggest Suriya plays Saravanan — an advocate who, when unable to deliver justice through legal means, is possessed by the deity Karuppasaami to dispense divine justice instead.

The film reunites Suriya with Trisha — his Aaru (2005) co-star — as the female lead, with a supporting cast featuring Yogi Babu, Indrans, Sshivada, Swasika, Natty, Supreeth Reddy, and Anagha Maya Ravi. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film's technical crew includes composer Sai Abhyankkar, cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor Kalaivanan, art director Arun Venjaramoodu, and stunt choreographer Vikram Mor. The project is produced by SR Prabhu and SR Prakash Babu of Dream Warrior Pictures — reuniting both Suriya with his NGK producers and RJ Balaji with his Sorgavaasal team.

On the horizon, Suriya has Vishwanath & Sons with Venky Atluri opposite Mamitha Baiju, and his 47th film directed by Aavesham filmmaker Jithu Madhavan, starring Nazriya Fahadh and Naslen.
