Coolie: Lokesh Kanagaraj keen on not repeating Leo mistakes!

Coolie starring Rajinikanth in the lead is an upcoming Sun Pictures production, written and directed by Lokesh Kangaraj. The filmmaker is currently out and about attending public events, and doing interviews, and in the past few days, he has officially confirmed that only two more schedules of Coolie shooting remain, post which the Coolie release date will be officially announced.

Lokesh Kanagaraj even declared at an event, “I just want to show what a hardcore Kamal Haasan fan (like himself) can do with a Rajinikanth film". Lokesh Kanagaraj recently sat down with 'THR India', and hinted that Bollywood star Aamir Khan is very much part of Rajinikanth starrer Coolie

Added to this he also admitted to the flashback portions in his last movie i.e. the Vijay starrer LCU outing Leo, being a misfire for the film. Speaking on where, how and why it went wrong, Lokesh Kanagaraj stated,

"The flashback portions, those 20 minutes, it didn't work..The rest of the film (Leo) worked. That 20% that didn't work did not affect the film becoming a blockbuster, but I take it (the misfire) very seriously, and I'm not going to repeat it in my next films

I needed one song which was my producer's obligation, because obviously crores and crores of money is going into the movie and how could he promote the movie without a song. Even for 'RRR', there needed to be a 'Naatu Naatu', so like that I needed 'Naa Ready' song.

Parthiban (Vijay's family man character in Leo) can never dance in that way. He's a family man and he is hiding his past and living. I wanted to show the original Leo a little larger than life, and within 20 minutes, I needed to give him an intro, a song and the connect to the core plot. I already knew I had very less time to show that impact..I thought the (human) sacrifice part would leave an impact but it didn't."

Director Lokesh was also quite objective and practical about criticisms, and stated how he is keen on not making the same mistakes again in his successive projects. "If I close my ears for the critics, I'm going to so some other mistake in my next film. So I'm always open ears and I take all the criticism...Yes, I am willing to acknowledge where I went wrong. That should be the only ideal way to make ourselves be better."
