The 70th National Film Awards ceremony took place at the Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, on Tuesday (October 08, 2024). President of India Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious awards to the winners of the best of Indian cinema for the year 2022. 

Actress Nithya Menen who won the 'Best Actress' for the Tamil movie Thiruchitrambalam (alongside Manasi Parekh for the Gujrati movie Kutch Express) collected her medal from President Murmu. Tamil choreographer Sathish Krishnan, better known to the Tamil audience as dancer Sathish was feliciated with a medal for 'Best Choreography' for the Megham Karukatha song.

Thiruchitrambalam starring Dhanush in the titular role, is a production venture of Sun Pictures, and is a rom com written and directed by Mithran R Jawahar. The movie's song Megham Karukatha composed by Anirudh, originally had earned choreographer Jani a National award too, but in lieu of his arrest on potential POSCO charges, the award was suspended.
