KJR Studios, the production cum distribution banner behind Sivakarthikeyan's January 12 release Ayalaan, has officially announced that the film has grossed Rs. 75 Cr+ worldwide (WW) as of January 23, 2024 (Tuesday). An ambitious project of lead actor Sivakarthikeyan, Ayalaan released this year, eight years since it was first announced and five years since it began filming. 

The movie opened to decent response during the Pongal holidays, with the outer space character Tattoo (shot with actor Venkatesh Senguttuvan in an alien suit and voiced by actor Siddharth) becoming a hit among younger audience.

So much so that Phantom FX Studios a co-producer on Ayalaan and incharge of VFX/CGI in the film, announced a VFX heavy sequel to the movie - Ayalaan 2.  Written and directed by R. Ravikumar, Ayalaan is currently gearing up for a Telugu theatrical release on January 26 i.e. Republic day 2024. 

The film has AR Rahman for music and revolves around Sivakarthikeyan and Tattoo taking on a rogue scientist who plots to extract a deadly Nova gas by using a mysterious element called Sparc, which would endanger Earth.
