The Greatest of All Time aka The GOAT is the recently revealed title of actor Vijay's 68th film which so far went by Thalapathy 68 [working title]. The first look poster featured Vijay in dual roles - a younger one and an older one, and gave off quite the DB Cooper vibe. And buzz surrounding The GOAT suggests that the the film might indeed be based on the notorious plane hijacker, who parachuted from a Boeing 727 midflight before disappearing in 1971.
Netflix has a documentary about him it's called D.P COOPER: WHERE ARE YOU

DB Cooper aka Dan Copper, a middle aged man pulled off a plane hijack by carrying a dynamite bomb in 70s America. He famously wore an all black suit, thick rimmed dark shades, demanded a knapsack full of money, two sets of parachutes (implying he was going to take one more person with him but released all the passengers) and that the landing gear of the aircraft must remain deployed mid air, as seen in The Greatest of All Time's first look, and made his escape by lowering the aft airstair midflight.
DB Cooper eventually escaped only using two of the four parachutes, but completely undetected. His plan of wearing all black, and making his jump on a moonless night is suspected to have been premediated. The flights that were following DB Cooper's hijacked plane could not spot him as a result, and their radar never detected a deployed parachute.
Still can't believe they gave us Tom Hiddleston as Loki as DB Cooper pic.twitter.com/aG4PiHza9A

DB Cooper was never found and the mysterious nature of his plane hijack and escape has been a topic of media and pop culture interest for decades now. In 2016, DB Cooper's case was closed unsolved, and to date the only thing that has been retrieved in the case are 3 of the 90 packets of ransom money, which were concluded to have been dropped in a river, several months after Cooper's stunt.
Prison Break fans: Do you remember DB Cooper and his money hidden under a silo in Utah🤔😅 pic.twitter.com/zV8DVc93AP

Besides several copycat hijacking, DB Cooper inspired the 'Cooper Vane' in Boeing 727 planes, which prevents lowering of the aft airstair during flight. A number of popular television/OTT series like Prison Break (2005-2017), Breaking Bad (2008-2013), Loki (2021-2023) have DB Cooper references. Movies like The Pursuit of D. B. Cooper (1981) and Without a Paddle (2004) are also based on this character.
