Vetrimaaran directed Viduthalai: Part 1 which marks comedian Soori's debut as a lead actor in a full fledged serious role, released in theaters on March 31, 2023. The film based on real life police brutality, is making its digital premiere on Zee 5 streaming platfrom and Viduthalai: Part 1's OTT release date was officially announced to be April 28, 2023 [Friday].

The movie also stars Bhavani Sre, Vijay Sethupathi, Chetan, Gautham Menon among others and has Ilaiyaraaja for music. Zee 5 has also confirmed that the digital version will be an extended director's cut, meaning scenes that were not included in the theatrical release will be in it.
