2018 Kannada film Aa Karaala Raatri is a Karnataka-state award winning suspense thriller [streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar OTT platform], written and directed by Dayal Padmanabhan. The filmmaker is bringing his twisted story to Tamil as Kondraal Paavam, starring Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Santhosh Pratap, Eswari Rao and Charlie in pivotal roles. 

Kondraal Paavam has so far had a teaser, trailer [view above] release and both videos showcase a murder plan by Varalaxmi Sarathkumar's character and her poverty-stricken family. Their reasons and execution remain a mystery. Santhosh Prathap of Mr. Chandramouli (2018), Dev (2019), Oh My Kadavulae (2020) and Sarpatta Parambarai (2021) fame plays the guest whom the family plans to kill. 

Kondraal Paavam has music by Sam CS and so far two songs namely Lolaakku and The Tale of Asumama have released under Trend Music label. A production venture of D Pictures and Einfach Studios, Kondraal Paavam has Chezian for cinematography, John Mahendran, Dayal Padmanabhan for dialogues and Preethi Mohan-Babu for edits.
