Gautham Menon directed Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (VTK) starring Silambarasan TR in the lead is gearing up for a grand audio launch this evening. At this time, it is being suggested that one of Menon's long-awaited sequels - Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2 will be announced at this event. Actor Kamal Haasan is said to be attending the VTK audio launch and his presence further fuels the Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2 speculation. It is also worth mentioning that Gautham Menon recently opened about this sequel to Tamil magazine Anada Vikatan and said,

“The script is getting ready. I met and discussed the project for about 45 minutes with Kamal sir before the lockdown. He asked me to develop the script. I am given a slot to narrate the story now. I would love to do the film by the mid of 2023.”

Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International is the producer of VTK and he is expected to bankroll the Kamal - Gautham Menon sequel too. Back in 2020 when the news of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu getting a sequel first broke, Gautham Menon was said to be in talks with Kamal Haasan, Ishari K Ganesh and music composer Harris Jayaraj for the project.

The movie was not announced at the Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu event last evening but this is what Kamal Haasan and Gautham Menon had to say about their sequel together:

"I gave my nod to the director 2 years ago, I'm still waiting for the script (of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2)." - Kamal Haasan

"Writer  Jeyamohan is working on the script (of Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2) right now." - Gautham Menon
