Previously, we had reported that Amazon Prime Video has bagged the post-theatrical OTT rights of Mani Ratnam directed magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 i.e. PS1. Latest we hear, the streaming platform has paid a whopping amount of Rs. 125 Cr. for the digital rights of both parts of Ponniyin Selvan i.e. PS 1 and PS 2. An official confirmation on the same however awaits.

Ponniyin Selvan is a multi-starrer Tamil production backed by Lyca and Madras Talkies. The movie stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha among others .The film's first part PS1 is all set to release this year on September 30.

Ponniyin Selvan is a period drama based on an epynomous novel by Kalki Krishnamoorthy,  and it revolves around the titular character, his siblings and the encounters they face due to their royal lineage. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen in dual roles, one of which is the prime antagonist of this story. The mega budget movie has AR Rahman for music.
