Vijay starrer Master which hit theater screens on January 13, 2021 at 50% seat capacity is continuing its successful run in theaters, even after its OTT release on Amazon Prime Video. In the 33 days it ran in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the movie has managed to collect a whopping Rs. 11.56 Cr (gross).

Master's box-office collection in the city has now surpassed Vijay's previous blockbuster Theri, whose lifetime gross collection in Chennai is Rs. 11.5 Cr. Theri is the second film Master has out-done in terms of Tamil Nadu box-office collections.

Previously, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial had recorded a 'share' collection of Rs. 80 Cr. in Tamil Nadu within 16 days of its release. This was more than Baahubali: The Conclusion's life-time share in the state i.e. Rs. 78 Cr.
