Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala is running successfully in theatres. Superstar has started shooting for his next project directed by Karthik Subbaraj in Darjeeling. Here is an interesting byte on how Vijay landed Thalapathy 62 which was initially planned for Rajinikanth.

Superstar Rajinikanth had listened to scripts from many directors after the release of Kabali. He had zeroed in on two directors AR Murugadoss and Vetrimaran finally as their scripts had impressed him the most. Rajinikanth decided to go ahead with AR Murugadoss’ action-packed political drama first. 

On the other hand, following the success of Kabali, Vijay was ready to work with Pa. Ranjith and the director was busy readying a script for IlayaThalapathy. Meanwhile AR Murugadoss got busy with Mahesh Babu’s Spyder and  that's when Rajinikanth decided to work with Ranjith again for the second time. Ranjith started working on Kaala’s script and that’s how the film happened.

Well Vijay is now acting in AR Murugadoss’s tailor-made script for Rajinikanth which is tentatively titled Thalapathy 62. The film is produced by Sun Pictures which is also bankrolling Superstar Rajinkanth's film with Karthik Subbaraj. The shooting of Thalapathy 62 is progressing at a brisk pace and the makers are planning to release the film for Diwali.
