Kaala is #2 in all-time USA opening weekend box office

The opening weekend box office collection of Superstar Rajinikanth's Kaala might not have come close to the gargantuan record set by his previous film Kabali in the USA, but it is still right up there in the all-time record list. The movie, directed by Pa Ranjith, grossed $1,625,614 in its opening weekend across 324 locations in the USA. It is only behind Kabali's opening gross of $3,616,002.

The 'King of Opening' Rajinikanth now has 4 out of the top 5 Tamil films in the highest opening weekend grosser list in the USA. MM Media LLC, the distributor of the film in the USA, is hoping that the film will cross the $2 million mark this week. In spite of the initial mixed word of mouth, Kaala is holding strong across the world with the support of family audience.
