MovieCrow Box Office Report - June 12 to 14
Last weekend saw the release of Jayam Ravi's Romeo Juliet and Santhanam's Inimey Ippadithan. Both the movies received mixed to negative reviews, as they offered nothing new to the audience. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.
1. Romeo Juliet
Romeo Juliet took a good opening, thanks to the presence of popular stars and the chartbuster 'Dandanakka' in the film. However, the reviews have been quite mixed, and it would be interesting to see if the movie carries forward the momentum, in spite of not-so-positive word of mouth.
Santhanam's hero act hasn't quite impressed the audience, as many of the one-liners fall flat. The movie took an average opening, and it looks like Santhanam has to rediscover himself by choosing more interesting projects.
3. Kaaka Muttai
Kaaka Muttai grew from strength to strength, due to overwhelming reviews and positive buzz surrounding the film. Most of the multiplexes recorded sold out shows during the weekend, and the movie has already grossed more than Rs 8.5 crore at Tamil Nadu box office.
4. Demonte Colony
Following horror-comedy film Kanchana 2, Arulnuthi's Demonte Colony has also turned out to be a super hit. It is a well-deserved hit for Arulnithi, who has been doing a lot of experimental films.
Other Movies
Shockingly, Masss had lost most of its screens in the third weekend, which is something not very common for a Suriya's film. Jyothika's 36 Vayadhinile was running across a couple of multiplexes with limited shows.
Upcoming week's releases
Vadivelu's Eli will be hitting the screens on June 19, along with few lesser known films.
