MC Box Office Report - October 10 to 12

Even as the industry and the fans are waiting for the Diwali releases eagerly, close to 10 movies released last weekend and none of them managed to make an impact at the box office. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Madras

Karthi's Madras continued to make merry at the box office, as it was the unanimous choice of the audience, thanks to excellent word of mouth. The movie is expected to rule the box office for one more week, until the Diwali releases storm into the cinema halls.

2. Aranmanai

Sundar C's Aranmanai came back stronger last weekend with more screens, after Yaan received scathing reviews and the occupancy levels started to dip. Sundar C's dream run continues, and the buzz for his next film Aambala has begun already.

3. Yaan

Jiiva's Yaan, which marked the directorial debut of Ravi K Chandran, lost majority of screens in its second weekend. This movie yet again proves that exotic visuals cannot make up for an uninspiring screenplay.

Other Movies

Jeeva was getting good patronage from the multiplex audiences, while Sigaram Thodu was running across limited number of screens.

Upcoming week's releases

There will be no notable release in the coming week, as the makers would not want to take risks with Diwali around the corner, as Kaththi and Poojai will eat up all the screens.
