Yennamo Yedho - A Romcom minus the romance and comedy
Bharath Vijayakumar

The title of the film is probably a sarcastic indication to the audience about what they are about to encounter. Romantic comedies are never out of fad and Yennamo Yedho is the latest addition to this genre that is a hot favorite among  youngsters.  Read on to find more about this remake of Ala Modalaindi (Telugu).

Plot:

Recollecting the plot is quite tricky. The hero falls in love with someone first. When it does not work out he moves on to find someone else and when it fails again he is on the lookout for the next one. Amidst this he has to figure out which was his true love.

Cast:

For romantic comedies to click the lead pair is so crucial. Both Gautham Karthik and Rakul Preet will be on top of the charts if looks are the only criterion. But sadly their performance does not live up to our expectations. They cannot take the blame squarely for this as there is only something the artistes can do when the platform laid out for them falls woefully short. The inconsistency in the looks of Gautham is easily given away by his facial hair. And when this happens within a particular scene it is tough to escape even a tired eye. Prabhu tries his best to resurrect the film and is partially successful.

Songs:

The songs do not help greatly either. Though they are decently hummable they only act as speadbrakers on a road that is already full of potholes. Gautham proves his dancing ability in these songs. Most of the intended jokes fall flat and you realise that the intention was to evoke laughter only by following the BGM.

Romcom gone wrong:

What hurts the film badly is that there is a complete disconnect right from the beginning. Neither the romance is endearing nor the comedy clicks. With the lead pair falling in love so easily with so many people we are forced to believe that only the love they share with each other is true. This is justified merely by the amount of time they share together on screen. But their fondness for each other is only remotely palpable. Towards the climax when Prabhu asks Gautham whether there are any more twists and that he cannot bear further it seems he is the mouthpiece of the audience!

Bottomline:

A romcom that is a dry spell for the most part with only a few signs of enjoyable humour.
