Thanga Meengal sweeps 61st National Film Awards

The most coveted National Film Awards for Indian films were announced a short while ago. Director Ram's Thanga Meengal, which was overwhelmingly praised by the critics, has made Tamil Cinema proud by bagging three national awards. They are:

• Best Feature Film in Tamil
• Best Child Artist (Sadhana)
• Best Lyrics (Na. Muthukumar for Aanandha Yaazhai)

Balu Mahendra's last film Thalaimuraigal won the Nargis Dutt Award For Best Feature Film On National Integration and the editor of Vallinam VJ Sabu Joseph won the Best Editing Award.
