Dhanush's D55 Gets New Title Om, Set for October 16 Release

Dhanush's next film with director Rajkumar Periasamy, previously known by the working title D55, has officially been titled Om. The makers announced the title on Thursday, along with a release date of October 16.

Om marks the 55th film in Dhanush's career and his first collaboration with Rajkumar Periasamy, who made his directorial debut with Amaran. Interestingly, the project was announced with the hashtag Om Chapter 1, suggesting it could be the start of a larger series.

The film brings together an impressive cast that includes Sai Pallavi and Mammootty in important roles, along with Sreeleela, who made her Tamil debut with Parasakthi, and Indrans. The film marks Mammootty's return to Tamil cinema after 2018's Peranbu, reunites Dhanush with Sai Pallavi after Maari 2, and brings Sai Pallavi back together with Rajkumar Periasamy following their work on Amaran.

Produced by Dhanush under his own Wunderbar Films banner along with Shraddha Agrawal's R Take Studios, the film features music by Sai Abhyankkar, cinematography by Ezhil Arasu, editing by Kalaivanan, choreography by Sandy and stunts by Yannick Ben.

While plot details remain undisclosed, a recently released promo hints at a story rooted in money and revolution, featuring imagery of burning vehicles, protesters, stock market visuals and currency notes raining down from the sky.
