Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth are set to reunite on screen for the first time since 1981's Thillu Mullu, in a film to be directed by Nelson. Ahead of production, Latha Rajinikanth spoke about the project in a conversation with NDTV, calling it a great moment not just for the industry but for the legacies of both actors.

Latha noted that Kamal and Rajinikanth have shared a long-standing bond as friends and colleagues, and said the film, tentatively titled KH x RK, would make the late K Balachander proud. Balachander's 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal had marked Rajinikanth's debut and proved a breakthrough for Kamal as well. She added that the moment would also be one to remember for screenwriter Panchu Arunachalam and others who have followed the duo's journeys from the start.

Asked if she had any advice for Rajinikanth ahead of the film, Latha said she had no place offering tips to someone who was already a superstar when she met him, adding that she enjoys watching him perform just like any fan would.

She also acknowledged that Rajinikanth has back-to-back commitments, having just wrapped Jailer 2 before moving into KH x RK, leaving little room for rest. Her wish, she said, was simply for him to stay happy and energetic for his fans.

Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, has indicated he plans to complete his ongoing film with director duo Anbariv before beginning work on KH x RK.
