Dhanush’s much-anticipated Tamil project D55 has been officially launched with a pooja ceremony, with pictures from the event now doing the rounds. Directed by Amaran fame Rajkumar Periasamy, the film is being mounted as a high-budget, large-scale spy thriller.

The film features a powerful cast led by Dhanush, with Malayalam superstar Mammootty officially on board in a prominent role. Sai Pallavi and Sree Leela play key lead roles in the film. D55 marks the first full-fledged on-screen collaboration between Dhanush and Mammootty, apart from Dhanush’s earlier cameo in the Malayalam film Kammath & Kammath.

The makers are expected to begin shooting from February 10. Music for the film is composed by Sai Abhyankkar.

Notably, the pooja ceremony saw the presence of several leading directors and producers, many of whom are associated with Dhanush’s upcoming lineup. 7 Screen Studio’s Lalit Kumar, who is set to produce D58 directed by H Vinoth, attended the event. Filmmaker Vignesh Raja (Kara / D54), Tamizharasan Pachamuthu (D57), Mari Selvaraj (D56), and Dawn Pictures’ Aakash Baskaran, who will produce Dhanush’s D59, were also present.

Director Shankar, who is reportedly in talks with RTAKE Studios for Velpaari, and SJ Suryah, who is set to play the antagonist in an upcoming project, were among the attendees as well. With D60 also said to be in the pipeline with a big director, the event underlined Dhanush’s packed and ambitious lineup ahead.
