Tamil cult blockbuster hit Padayappa (1999) starring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead is headed for a re-release marking the actor's 75th birthday on December 12, 2025. Besides India, Padayappa re-release is hitting theaters in Singapore via Hamsini Entertainment, and Germany via ZineFlix, an Indian movie distribution company in Germany, Poland, SriLanka, and Austria.

A remastered version of Padayappa re-releases in 4K on December 12 (Friday), and the showtimes for Germany will be out soon. An action drama, Padayappa comes with a runtime of 181 minutes, and follows the story of a principled engineer named Padayappa (Rajinikanth), who returns to his village for a family wedding, only to be thrust into a decades-long war of love, inheritance, and vengeance, when his forbidden romance with a house maid (Soundarya) ignites a chain of betrayals, reshaping the fate of everyone he loves.

The movie also stars Sivaji Ganesan, Ramya Krishnan, Lakshmi, Sithara, Radha Ravi, Nassar, Manivannan, Senthil, Abbas, Preetha, among others. A home production for Rajinikanth, Padayappa was produced under the banner Arunachala Cine Creations, is written and directed by KS Ravikumar, and has AR Rahman for music.
