Kantara Chapter 1 Trailer Out: Rishab Shetty vs Gulshan Devaiah in an Epic Showdown

The trailer of Kantara Chapter 1, the much-awaited prequel to the 2022 blockbuster, is finally here. The film explores the origins of the Bhuta Kola ritual and the divine guardianship of land.

Rishab Shetty plays Berme, a tribal leader whose people are forced to give a large share of their crops to the royal family. When they decide to stop this system, a powerful conflict begins. Gulshan Devaiah plays Kulashekhara, Berme’s formidable rival, while Berme’s bond with Kanakavathi adds an emotional layer to the story.

The film promises a blend of mythology, action, and romance. Shot secretly in Karnataka’s forests with a massive budget of around ₹120 crore, Kantara Chapter 1 has been censored ‘U/A’ with a runtime of 2 hours 48 minutes  — which looks like a perfect runtime for a period drama .

It will have paid premieres on October 1, 2025, and will release in theatres on October 2 in seven languages. The digital release will stream on Amazon Prime Video after 56 days.
