It was announced marking the Tamil New Year that Kamal Haasan's upcoming movie Thug Life, written and directed by Mani Ratnam, will be released in the US by distribution partner Prime Media. Thug Life's overseas rights are with API International, and Home Screen Entertainment, and hence the movie's USA release is in association with these international distribution banners.

Thug Life premieres on June 4, 205 in USA, and Prime Media recently confirmed that the film will be opening in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. Prime Media also announced that they are planning to open Thug Life in all large formats across US screens.

Thug Life USA premiere bookings open May 16, 2025. A joint production venture of Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies, Thug Life has AR Rahman for music. 

The movie also stars Silambarasan TR, Trisha, Sanya Malhotra, Aishwarya Lekshmi among others.
