The Greatest of All Time, known as The GOAT in Tamil, Telugu and GOAT in Hindi, is gearing up for a worldwide release on September 5, 2024 (Thursday). A high-octane action thriller, The GOAT revolves around a former elite anti-terrorist agent, who comes face to face with his past in this movie. The Greatest of All Time's SWOT analysis follows:

Strength:

• The Greatest of All Time is written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, who has crowd favourite hits like Chennai 600028 (2007), Goa (2010), Mankatha (2011), and Maanaadu (2021) to his credit. The movie is headlined by Vijay, a star force to reckon with in the Tamil film industry. Off the bat, the Vijay-Venkat Prabhu synergy is the biggest strength of the movie.

• The Greatest of All Time has been marketed as a fast paced action thriller, but there seems to be hints of a science fiction element being part of the movie. The plot details being kept under wraps, has definitely helped in maintaining curiosity about The GOAT. 

• The GOAT is a big budget entertainer with multiple star actors in its ensemble like Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Sneha, Laila, Mohan, Jayaram among others. The movie's production quality is top notch, and with the glimpses released so far, has given a Hollywood-ish vibe. A value for money movie for the theater audience. 

Weakness

• Composer Yuvan Shankar Raja who in the past has given multiple musical hits with director Venkat Prabhu, has not been able to impress his usual listeners with The Greatest of All Time. Venkat Prabhu however has said that while the songs as a standalone might get that feedback, they blend seamlessly into the film's story.

• Vijay plays dual roles of father and son in The Greatest of All Time. Deaging of the younger Vijay using VFX had initially received a lot of flak, prompting the makers to rework on the same. Though there are no more brickbats, only the movie's release would tell if the VFX and deaging has passed or not.  

Opportunities:

• The Greatest of All Time is Vijay's second last movie before he enters fulltime politics. As a result, Vijay's, and in part the Tamil film audience have shown more enthusiasm than ever for the film's release. The GOAT movie has the opportunity to create Vijay's career-best box-office record, banking in on this interest.

• The Greatest of All Time is hitting theater screens solo on Teacher's day Thursday, which flows into the Vinayagar Chaturthi weekend. The movie is getting the widest possible release with maximum number of screens in not just Tamil Nadu, but also Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, North India and overseas. If The GOAT clicks, it could send the cash register ringing for days. 

Threats

• The opening day word-of-mouth holds precedence over all else, even for a milestone movie in someone's film career. The Greatest Of All Time's first show in Tamil Nadu begins only at/after 9 AM IST, leaving room for review chatter since The GOAT premieres everywhere else at a much earlier time between 4 AM IST and 7 AM IST.
