Maharaja starring Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, is the actor's 50th movie which is all set to hit theater screens on June 14, 2024. Written and directed by Nithilan Saminathan of Kurangu Bommai (2017) fame, Maharaja revolves around a barber who seeks vengeance after his home is burglarized, telling police his 'Lakshmi' has been taken, leaving them uncertain if it's a person or object. Maharaja trailer, and the film's first single Thaaye Thaaye further suggests that the movie delves into the titular character's quest possibly avenge his daughter. 

Director Nithilan has said that the film Maharaja will be reminiscent of his first movie Kurangu Bommai in terms of treatment and flavour. Maharaja also stars Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natty Natraj, Bharathiraja, Abhirami, Singampuli, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, Vinoth Sagar, Boys Manikandan, Kalki, Sachana Namidass, among others.

A production venture of Passion Studios, Maharaja is censored U/A and comes with a runtime of 142 minutes i.e. 2 hours 22 minutes. B. Ajaneesh Loknath has composed music for Maharaja, with Junglee Music label holding audio rights, Netflix OTT rights and Star Vijay satellite rights.
