Muthu re-release cheers up Rajinikanth fans amidst Chennai floods 2023

As the capital city of of Tamil Nadu recovers from December 3 Cyclone Michaung and Chennai Floods 2023, Rajinikanth fans felt a sigh of relief with the re-release of their favourite star's classic hit - Muthu (1995). Written and directed by KS Ravikumar and co-starring Meena in the lead, Muthu is a Tamil adaptation of the 1994 Malayalam hit Thenmavin Kombath, and revolves around the family politics and secrets of a zamindar family. 

 

While actress Meena and KS Ravikumar made it to the opening day of Muthu re-release, Rajinikanth who turns 73 this  December 12, gave the theatrical event a miss. Some of the reactions online to the 2023 release of Muthu, which has AR Rahman for music:

 

 

Post Cyclone Michaung, a video of Rajinikanth's Poes Garden home painted a picture of how bad the waterlogging on his street was. However, Rajini is said to be shooting for a film outside Chennai, and his family members are said to have taken shelter at an alternate address even before the cyclone hit.

 

 

Director KS Ravikumar has also announced that Padayappa (1999) another classic hit of Rajinikanth that he directed, will next be re-releasing in theaters.
