Thalapathy 68 director issues quick clarification on the Vijay-Ajith story

It has not been a smooth sail for team Vijay these past few days, and the actor's name has been the subject of chatter for anything but his movies seemingly. From hard-core fans beefing with Vijay's seniors and contemporaries, to his management team making headlines for the wrong reasons, the actor and political aspirant's name has been spotted increasingly in negative light than otherwise. At such times, a Kollywood news handle claimed that actor Vijay asked Venkat Prabhu, director of his untitled next Thalapathy 68 to not include Premgi Amaren in his movie.

Premgi is a multi-faceted talent and has always made an acting appearance in his brother Venkat Prabhu's films. The X handle claimed that Vijay made the request to Venkat Prabhu on grounds that Premgi Amaren was an Ajith Kumar fan. Venkat Prabhu quickly shut this down, knowing full well how this could be blown out of proportions by the always-at-loggerheads Ajith and Vijay fans.

Venkat Prabhu directed Ajith in the latter's 50th film Mankatha and during its shooting in 2011, Vijay and Ajith had famously met since they were filming on nearby sets. Venkat Prabhu and Premgi Amaren have publicised photos taken at this occassion with both stars, and over the years it has become the only known friendly incident in the Ajith-Vijay lore.

Venkat Prabhu has now revealed that claim put forth by the X handle was made as a joke, and way back in 2011 when the quad had met.
