Actor Rajinikanth took to twitter recently to express his praise for the Tamil movie Maamannan written and directed by Mari Selvaraj. The Superstar wrote, "#Maamannan A wonderful creation by Mari Selvaraj that emphasizes equality. My heartfelt appreciation to him. My congratulations to Vadivelu, Udhayanidhi and Fahadh Faasil for their excellent performances."

Maamannan which released in theaters on June 29, 2023 marks Udhayanidhi Stalin's last film as an actor. The movie is produced by Udhay's home banned Red Giant Movies and has AR Rahman for music. Mari Selvaraj responded to Rajinikanth's tweet by sharing pictures he took with the star post the film's release. The director also wrote,

"I express my gratitude and happiness that overflows from my heart to our Superstar Rajinikanth who fondly watched my third movie Maamannan just like he watched my first two films Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan, and invited me personally with great love and affection to appreciate (it/me) wholeheartedly."
