Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 aka PS 2 is the highly awaited sequel to director Mani Ratnam's epic Tamil movie Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1. Centered around the Chola dynasty of 969 AD, the movies follow the Pandya rebels' oath to spill royal Chola blood (Vikram, Jayam Ravi), and the Chola chieftains' (Sarath Kumar, Parthiepan) plan for a mutiny under Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan)'s veiled tutelage. 

Actors Karthi, Trisha, Jayaram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Prakash Raj, Rahman, Kishore co-star in pivotal roles, and Ponniyin Selvan 2 is all set to release in theaters on April 28, 2023 [Friday]. The movie's digital premiere is expected on May 26, 2023 [Friday], wherein PS2 will be available to rent on Amazon Prime Video streaming platform. 

OTT release date of Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 is expected to be a week later i.e. June 2, 2023 [Friday]. Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1950s story, Ponniyin Selvan revolves around who will be the next King of the Chola dynasty - the wild prince Aditha Karikalan (Chiyaan Vikram), the hermit prince Arunmozhi Varman (Jayam Ravi), their estranged uncle Madurantakan (actor Rahman) or the Pandya's heir prince Amarabujanga (Master Raghavan). 

Part 1 of the movie ended with the supposed death of Arunmozhi Varman, whereas previews of the sequel show that he has escaped death and is on the down-low. The story behind senior Aishwarya Rai, and what happens further is what is expected to unveil in the second movie.

[June 2, 2023: Update]: Marking director Mani Ratnam's 67th birthday today, Amazon Prime Video officially announced that Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 aka PS-2 is streaming on their OTT platform in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages starting midnight. The movie was previously on rent for a week from May 26, 2023 and its Hindi version will be available from June 9, 2023 i.e. Friday
