RRR Oscar Controversy Explained

SS Rajamouli directed RRR was in the Oscars race to be sent as an official entry from India but the board in charge of selection, finalized an indie movie titled The Last Film Show aka Chhello Show by Pan Nalin. The Last Film Show will be competing in the best international feature category at the upcoming 95th Academy Awards. Fan and film industry reactions to the mainstream RRR not getting selected has been one of colossal disappointment and varied emotions have been at display on social media for 2 days now.

RRR's U.S. distributor Variance Films is however taking preemptive actions to get RRR to that Oscar stage. The company's president Dylan Marchetti has launched a campaign if his own and has called for the Academy members to consider voting RRR on private submission.

RRR will be submitted for best picture, director (S.S. Rajamouli), original screenplay (Rajamouli and V. Vijayendra Prasad), lead actor (Jr. NTR, Ram Charan), supporting actor (Ajay Devgn), supporting actress (Alia Bhatt), original song (Naatu Naatu), original score (M.M. Keeravaani), cinematography, production design, film editing, costume design, makeup and hairstyling, sound and visual effects categories.

Team RRR's next move is to make the film available on the Academy streaming room, which is part of a strategy to get as many of the 10, 000 voters to take a call on the movie's inclusion.
