Actor Suriya has only just begun filming for an ambitious Suriya 42, which is a big budget period drama scheduled to release in 10 languages in 3D. He also has a slew of projects that are yet to begin or complete like Vaadivaasal (with director Vetrimaaran), Vanangaan (with director Bala) and a Sudha Kongara film. At this time, buzz has it that Suriya will next be collaborating with director Shankar. 

Director Shankar himself is a busy man with the simultaneous shooting of Indian 2 and RC 15 and the Bollywood remake of Anniyan with Ranveer Singh, which he is expected to begin post his current projects. Word has it that his film with Suriya is based on a historical novel titled Velpari [hinted by Suriya at the Viruman audio launch] and book's author Su Venkatesan is currently working on adapting his story for screen. 

The movie is also said to be planned on a mega budget of Rs. 1000 Cr. and will tell the story of a Tamil King named Pari and the reason behind the Chera, Chola and Pandya clans to wage war on his small country of Parambu.
