Nenjam Marapathillai which released on March 5, 2021 and the first three days' collections for the movie in Tamil Nadu have been about Rs. 4 Cr.  This is a decent opening weekend, especially during COVID times when the audience have been hesitant to walk into a movie theater.

However, as with every Selvaraghavan movie the audience response to Nenjam Marapathillai has been mixed. The movie may have topped the opening weekend with its box-office collections but with working weekdays ahead, the high numbers it started with will be difficult to maintain.
