After Chattisgargh & MP, Chhapaak ruled tax-free in Rajasthan!

Meghna Gulzar directed Chhapaak which has Deepika Padukone play an acid attack survivor hit theater screens this Friday and the film was earlier declared tax-free in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgargh by the respective Chief Ministers "to bring awareness about acid-violence" in the states.

Upon release on January 10, 2020 Chhapaak was also exempted tax-free in the state of Rajasthan, which has followed suit of its fellow Congress-governed states. Chaapaak drew the ire of the Right Wing after Deepika Padukone visited Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), which is currently the center of major headlines for its student violence related controversies.

BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga was the first to tweet asking his followers to boycott Deepika's film which was later trended by Right Wing supporters on social media. Congress party members like actress Khushboo have openly come in support of Padukone and the tax-free exemptions are being seen as another move from the INC to register their opposition to the BJP.
