Almost a year since director Venkat Prabhu announced his project Maanaadu - A Venkat Prabhu Politics, news of the film finally going on floors has surfaced. The movie which stars Simbu aka STR and Kalyani Priyadarshan in the lead is expected to begin shooting from June 25, 2019 at Malaysia.

Produced by Suresh Kamatchi, Maanaadu will be Venkat Prabhu's first attempt at a political subject and STR is said to have trained his physique for this film. The movie has Yuvan Shankar Raja for music and Praveen K.L. for the edits.
