At a recent film awards function, director A.R. Murugadoss who gave the super-hit action thriller Thuppakki with Vijay in 2012 confirmed that a sequel to the film will definitely be made. This announcement has gotten fans excited and requests for seeing actor Vijay back in his role of captain Jagadish and fan made posters are already floating on twitter.
Thuppakki was released on 13 November 2012 coinciding with Diwali day and revolved around an Mumbai-based Indian Army officer, on a mission to track down and deactivate the sleeper cells of a terrorist group, after witnessing and barely escaping a bomb blast executed by them.
The film has been remade in Hindi as Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (Akshay Kumar) and Bengali as Game: He Plays To Win to hugely positive responses.
