If one may recall, during the audio launch of the Tamil movie Peranbu,  director Ram claimed that the team has plans of releasing the film in China as well, a country where no Tamil film has released before. But now seems like another Tamil film might overtakee Peranbu in this race, as news of one HGC Entertiainment acquiring the Chinese market rights of Mersal has just hit the world. A theatrical release date for the Chinese version of this Vijay starrer is expected to be announced soon.

If Mersal releases in China, it will be the second South Indian film after Baahubali and the first Tamil film to do so. Also this latest feat will add to the list of firsts, Mersal has recorded ever since its release.
