Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 has been confirmed for a theatrical release on October 15. Directed by Nelson, who returns to write and helm the sequel to his 2023 action drama, the film wrapped production in April after over a year of filming. Sun Pictures backs the sequel with Kalanithi Maran presenting.

Returning from the first film are Ramya Krishnan, Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Mirnaa Menon and Yogi Babu, while new additions include Suraj Venjaramoodu, Meghana Raj Sarja, Jatin Sarna and Tamizh. Hrithik Roshan, Nandamuri Balakrishna and Mithun Chakraborty are rumoured to be part of the cast, though unconfirmed. Anirudh returns to compose the music in his sixth collaboration with Rajinikanth and fifth with Nelson.
