Madras HC Grants Gautham Menon Time Till July 31 to Release Dhruva Natchathiram

The Madras High Court has granted Gautham Vasudev Menon time until July 31 to settle his financial disputes and release Dhruva Natchathiram, as reported by The Hindu. Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy passed the order, offering the filmmaker a fresh window after his earlier attempts to release the film by June 18 and later June 15 were delayed by ongoing court proceedings.

The investors, K Premkumar and K Punniamoorthy, had earlier filed appeals challenging Ramamoorthy's April 30 order, which had permitted the film's release by June 15. Those appeals were dismissed by a Division Bench comprising Justices P Velmurugan and K Govindarajan Thilakavadi.

The financial dispute traces back to a deal involving Gautham's Dhanush-starrer Enai Noki Paayum Thota, which led to arbitral proceedings. A 2018 MoU resolution saw distributor Madan Pandy hand over 50 per cent of his Dhruva Natchathiram rights to the investors, before a 2023 lawsuit resulted in an interim order blocking the film's release.
