Actor Anil Kapoor has shared a deeply personal tribute to filmmaker K Bhagyaraj, who passed away on June 27, calling him "a creative genius whose contributions to Indian cinema go far beyond what many people know."

Anil recalled that the news felt surreal as he had recently spent time with Bhagyaraj at Khushbu's daughter's wedding. Reflecting on their cinematic connection, he noted that Woh Saat Din, adapted from Bhagyaraj's work, was one of the most important films of his career. He also traced Bhagyaraj's fingerprints across landmark Hindi films — Mohabbat, Beta and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi — all of which were rooted in his stories and screenplays. "The seeds of all these successes were planted by Bhagyaraj sir," Anil wrote, adding that while the stories were adapted for Hindi audiences, "the true creator was always him."

He concluded by saying that despite not always receiving the recognition he deserved, Bhagyaraj's legacy would live on through the stories he created and the generations he inspired. K Bhagyaraj's final rites will take place on Sunday in Chennai.
