Karthi's long-awaited spy thriller Sardar 2 has finally locked a release date — September 10. The makers announced the date alongside a glimpse featuring Karthi's older avatar as Agent Sardar, standing before a blazing backdrop with rifles in hand.

Directed by PS Mithran, the sequel serves as both a follow-up and a prequel to the 2022 original. Filming, which spanned over 100 days across locations including China and Cambodia, wrapped in June 2025. The film stars SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, Rajisha Vijayan, Yogi Babu and others alongside Karthi. Sam CS composes the music, with George C Williams on cinematography and Vijay Velukutty editing. S Lakshman Kumar produces under Prince Pictures alongside Ishan Saksena.
