Premise:  G.D.Naidu is passionate from his early days to learn the intricacies in various fields of business, create many revolutionary equipments and do it as a service to the people of Tamil Nadu. The challenges he faces in the process is the key structure.

Writing/ Direction:  G.D.Naidu is a great asset for our country, his life journey is definitely inspiring. At the same time, the quality of the feature presentation plays a major role in providing the due impact. In that case, this film is a blunder and does complete injustice to the man and his pride. The initial sequences are done well, Teejay convinces by incorporating the nuances of the character, moreover the scale of those sequences were also simple to display. The trial and error is common for the businessman, the aspect of the hero unexpectedly falling and rising amidst difficulties is a nice layer to add in this story. The united bus company is fabulous, this particular portion has the right amount of detailing, where the titular character’s pillar of strength, the character played by Sathyaraj and his talents are established. Things begin to fumble after Jayaram, the income tax officer’s entry. His portions are so repetitive and the formula continues till the very end, the IT department trying to corner GDN and him tackling it. There is no depth while showcasing the growth of GDN, especially in the later half, everything becomes so dialogue-oriented. A quality film should look even better when the scale of the situation becomes big, this one is on the opposite pole. The whole second half is absolute trash in terms of visuals, spoiled to the maximum extent by using AI for every second shot. The old-age lookset did not fit for any actors, all of them felt so fake on-screen. There was a commercial punch in the base idea of the last reel, but the execution faltered big time.

Performances: Some over-expressive bits here and there, still Madhavan manages to convince with neat performance, his versatile dialogue modulations are appreciable too. Good casting choices to go with Sathyaraj and Jayaram, especially the former has played some scenes in a sarcastic zone. Dummy roles for the heroines Dushara Vijayan and Priyamani, mainly the latter doesn’t have a valid reason why she is leaving her marital status with GDN. Weak character writing for Vinay, who is more like a villain but makes zero impact.

Technicalities: Nothing exceptional, just a passable album from Govind Vasantha. His background score is pretty decent and helps the situations to an extent. Pathetic visuals except for the opening Teejay portions, after a point it felt like the movie was not shot manually using a camera but a machine made crap. Full of transition in editing, it was difficult to follow the character as the narrative became episodic blocks instead of flowing seamlessly. Low quality visual effects and unfortunately there were plenty of green mat shots.

Verdict: Watchable first half where we see some portions of the inspiring man’s journey in awe, post which the narrative is overly rushed and the worst part is, it looks super fake and the characters seem like they are participating in fancy dress competition.

G.D.N - Underwhelming output for a story with solid potential.
