Earlier this year, actor Vijay's most talked about film Mersal was nominated under their Best Foreign Language film and the best supporting actor category at the 4th edition of the National Film Awards, UK. Now, it has been announced that the Thenandal Studios Produced movie has been declared a winner under in the best foreign language film category. The award ceremony took place on the 28th of March at London.

Fans have been going beserk over the news of this win especially since the winners are chosen from online votes of the public and they had voted from January 2018 till March 20, 2018. Mersal was nominated along with Happy End (France), Loveless (Russia), In The Fade (Germany/France),The Square (Sweden, Germany, France), A Fantastic Woman, (Chile), Vaya (South Africa) and The Insult (Lebanon).
