Exclusive - Actress Gayathrie on what makes her upcoming film Puriyaatha Puthir a must-watch

 

JSK Film Corporations' upcoming production venture Puriyaatha Puthir is hitting theatre screens this weekend and ahead of the release, we caught a hold of the leading lady Gayathrie who very sweetly spared us time for a quick conversation :

You are having a film release after a gap of 3 years. How does it feel? 

Well obviously I had not planned for this gap of 3 years. It wasn't intended but I am glad Puriyaatha Puthir is releasing at this time. It has made my wait worth it and i'm confident it is going to bigger than my other films. 

You've had two earlier releases with Vijay Sethupathi - Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom (NKPK) and Rummy. How was the experience working with him yet again? 

He is very comfortable to work with. He is like a God father to me and everyone around him; He'd remember what you spoke with him the last time you met him and he'd ask everything about it the next time. He keeps track of what you are doing and looks out for everyone in that sense. Right from the days of NKPK, he is one of my well wishers and I'm sure he considers me the same. 

We heard you took Violin classes for Puriyaatha Puthir?

Yes. You know the way you hold a violin for classical and western are different and the director wanted me to learn to play it the western way. I had to know where to hold while playing a high or a low note because one cannot fool the audience these days, without looking passable. So I learnt to play a tune for the film but that's about it (laughs). 

What can the audience expect from Puriyaatha Puthir?

I know a lot of people are anticipating the NKPK pair on-screen. I would like to tell them that NKPK and Puriyaatha Puthir are two different films. They do not belong to the same genre. 
About the film, you walk into the theatres with a notion and I guarantee it will change in the first 10-15 minutes of the film. I've thoroughly enjoyed doing the film and I hope people like it too. 

Also starring Vijay Sethupathi, Ramesh Thilak and Arjunan in important roles, Puriyaatha Puthir has Sam C.S for music Dinesh Krishnan for cinematography. The movie which is written and directed by Ranjith Jeyakodi is releasing on September 1, 2017.
