With only a day left before for the release of the Jayam Ravi - Aravind Swamy starrer Bogan, the question pondering everyone's mind is whether or not this film be another Thani Oruvan. If one may recall, Thani Oruvan starring the same duo showcased a race of time between brains of law and that of science. But given that Bogan is a venture of a completely differect director (Lakshman) whose earlier flick was a romantic comedy (Romeo-Juliet), it would be only just if we expect the impending release to be far from the lines of duo's earlier hit.
Thanks to the controversy that shrouded Bogan in late 2016, it is now a known fact that the movie is strongly inspired from the Hollywood film Face/Off. However, one has to keep in mind that while Face/Off was based on science-fiction, Bogan is purely an action entertainer which, going by the promotional teasers promises to cater to the regular audience of Tamil cinema. The element of face swap though, is hinted to be a major part in the movie's trailer. Lakshman has repeated Hansika as his heroine and rightly so as the Jayam Ravi - Hansika pairing has proved to bring out believable chemistry in the past (Engeyum Kaadhal, Romeo Juliet). D. Imman's score for the film has gained considerable reach among the music buffs. The recent song promos are proof that the songs are something to look forward to in the movie.
There hasn't been any promising movies since Pongal and the release of Bogan might break the lull that has haunted the cine industry since the last two weeks. And if the movie turns out to have a good opening, it could as well set the box-office ball rolling, before the massive Si3 hits theatre screens later that week.
